Our Pastor

Pastor Sherrouse trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in April 1981.  As a young man, after experiencing the death of two friends, he came under heavy conviction about his own sins and his future.  During this time, a friend invited him to church one Sunday evening.  At the invitation he prayed to the Lord for salvation, walked the aisle and has never been the same since.

After his conversion, his desire was to tell others about this great salvation.  During his Basic Training in the U.S. Army he surrendered to preach.  After departing from the U.S. Army, he attended Pensacola Bible Institute and graduated in 1987.

Since graduation, he has served His Savior as a missionary in Europe, pastor in Florida, and presently pastoring Faith Baptist Church (since August 2003.)

Pastor Sherrouse and his wife Peggy have been married since 1982. The Lord blessed them with five children.

He has found that serving the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest Joy.  The word of God (KJV1611) is ones greatest possession.

Pastor Paul Sherrouse invites you to Faith Baptist Church.  If you have never been born again and do not know that your sins are forgiven, he invites you to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior (Romans 10:9-13).

How to be saved

If you died tonight, are you 100% sure you would go to Heaven when you die?

You can be saved and know it.

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” – 1 John 5:13

Here’s how…

1) You need to know that YOU are a sinner.
– Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Thus, all men are guilty. A man doesn’t have to become guilty, he is born guilty (Psalms 51:5, Ephesians 2:1, Isaiah 64:7). The Bible says in Romans 3:12 that “There is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

2) There is a penalty for sin.
– Romans 6:23: “The wages of sin is death”
Men are sinners; therefore, men are “dead in…sins” and “condemned already.” Because of this fact, they already deserve Hell. The penalty for sin is “death”, which is eternity in Hell, the “second death” (Revelation 20:14, 15; 21:8).
At this point, the situation is grim. Man is born guilty and on his way to Hell. There is nothing he can do about it because a sinner cannot save himself.

3) Jesus Christ paid the penalty for you.
– Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Because of His “great love” and our need for a perfect substitute, Christ died on the cross in our place. He shed His precious blood to wash away our sin.

4) Jesus Christ offers you salvation as a FREE gift.
– Romans 6:23: “But the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”
All you can do with a gift is receive it or reject it. You do not earn gifts. You cannot purchase, merit, trade or bargain for a gift. Once it is yours, it is yours.

How do you receive it?

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13

Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the absolute, sole authoritative rule for faith and practice is the perfect, preserved word of God, which is the AV 1611, King James Bible. (Ps. 12:6-7)

Jesus Christ

We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His vicarious death for sinners, His literal bodily resurrection and His literal bodily return to this earth to reign for 1000 years.  (1 Tim. 3:16)

 Good Works

We believe that any religious person who depends upon the sacraments or the golden rule, or the church, or the ten commandments to justify him before God will be condemned at the White Throne Judgment and banished to the Lake of Fire for trusting their righteousness instead of Jesus Christ's righteousness. (Rom. 4:5)

Baptism

We believe that water baptism for the regenerated believer is immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. (Matt. 28:19)

Church Ordinances

Baptism and the Lord's Supper constitute the only two scriptural ordinances for the church, but neither has any saving power (Luke 22:19)

Eternal Security

We believe in the eternal security of the believer as part of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John10:28;Eph.1:13)

Separation

We believe that Christians should attempt to live godly lives and separate themselves as much as possible from the world and its lusts and entanglements That they should encourage and minister to one another and give liberally to the support of any bible-believing ministry that is actively winning people to Jesus Christ. (Rom. 12:1)

Second Coming of Jesus Christ

We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth to catch out His "bride" before Daniel's Seventieth Week (the "Time of Jacob's Troubles) takes place. That He will return after the "Marriage of the Lamb" to reign over the "House of Jacob" at Jerusalem on the "Throne of David."
(John 14:3)
